This soundtrack preview contains two themes that will be included in the film. Given the nature of the story, I have decided that one theme should contain a 13-note motif, while the contrasting one a 7-note motif. These two themes are closely linked together through similar key signatures, harmonic structure, and representation of the characters.


- The Magic Clover is a project produced by Alessandra P.Bernacchi and directed by Aziza Aba Butain that will be shot in April 2012 and be part of the Stark Film Festival in September 2012. It’s going to be a seven-minute short film and it will be shot on a SONY EX1.

The script, loosely adapted from the book “La Buena Suerte” by A.Rovira and F.Trias de Bes, is written by both Allie and Aziza and aims at communicating one simple message:

Luck does not last long, because it does not depend on you. Good Luck is created by each of us: that’s why it lasts forever.

Mockingjay, Hunger Games, Fan-Made Soundtrack by Film Composer Isaias Garcia

So after watching the Hunger Games I thought I’d pay tribute (pun intended) to Katniss and the other characters in the story. The four-note “mocking jay” theme is very evident here, as I took those four notes and expanded them into different harmonic variations in the orchestra, as well as including Katniss’ whistling. This piece is intended to be painfully sad and dramatic, reflecting the chaotic environment these characters have been forced to dwell in, and although the strings give a particularly romantic setting, the goal here is to leave it up to you, the audience, where in your imagination this seems fitting.

Obviously any fan-made themes I compose in the future will never be quite as complete or thought out as my Harry Potter soundtracks (which were, to my surprise, nominated at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards this past year), but nonetheless whenever good movies come out that have really interesting storylines, I’m sure I’ll get inspired to write something for it.
